One of the hardest aspects of being human is the need to let go of cherished things in order to grow and adapt. This is true of holiday traditions, which change as we grow older and as the world changes around us, and it’s true of our larger faith. Many of us came to Unitarian Universalism because we fell in love with the Seven Principles. But now, the UUA’s Bylaws are being revised, and with that comes a reimagining of our principles and sources. For many, this is an exciting and long-overdue change. For others, it can feel like a loss. How can we find joy in new traditions and new expressions of those things we hold most dear?
