For our last summer field trip to other UU congregations, we head to Denver Colorado. Founded in 1871, the First Unitarian Society of Denver has been a bedrock for the Denver community. They’ve taken part in groundbreaking social justice work, including women’s suffrage, civil rights, racial justice, and LGBTQ rights, and have recently been a leader of the immigration sanctuary movement to protect immigrants’ rights. This congregation has just returned to modified in-person services in their sanctuary. Rev. Jen Simon (they/them), who previously served as the congregation’s intern and is now minister of The Mountaintop, a BiPOC UU community of greater Denver, will be preaching.
