Barring a significant increase in new COVID cases or stormy weather, we expect to hold our first outdoor service this Sunday! All must wear a well-fitted mask over mouth and nose at all times and remain safely distanced. The expectation is that all adults and youth over 12 who participate in-person have been fully vaccinated. For those who prefer to join online, we will continue to stream the service via our usual Zoom link. While there won’t be a virtual coffee hour this week, we will hold space at the end of the service for those who are online who would like to chat and connect.
What You Need to Know if You Are Attending in Person:
10:30 – (optional) Meet at the corner of 9th and Broadway (the church’s original location) for a leisurely procession to 600 NW 13th St. (our current location). In 1927, members of the congregation walked from the old site to break ground at 600 NW 13th St. As we transition from 19 months of 100% virtual church to a hybrid or multiplatform model (mix of in-person and online), we will follow in the footsteps of our church ancestors, to break ground on our future way of being.
10:50 – Please try to arrive at church several minutes before the service so we can break everyone out into groups. Our maximum capacity is 125, and we will be forced to turn people away if we exceed that number. We won’t be taking pre-registrations at this first outdoor service, so please plan to arrive a little early to ensure you get a spot.
11:00 – After a ringing of the bells and moment of silence, groups will rotate between stations. Stations will include: instrumental music; blessings; remembrance/memorial; meditation; and play. In effect, instead of the service coming to you, you will move around to the different parts of the service. Current weather predictions indicate that the day may be windy and quite warm with a slight chance of showers. Please dress accordingly. We’re asking everyone to bring their own picnic blanket or easily portable chairs (such as foldable lawn chairs). We will not be holding a formal coffee hour and will not be providing snacks or beverages, so please bring your own, if you’d like.
In the event of dangerous weather, we will cancel the outdoor service and will offer an online service. Please watch this website, Facebook page and your email for an announcement, if we need to cancel.
