Our Whole Lives (OWL)

What is OWL?

Honest, accurate information about sexuality changes lives. It dismantles stereotypes and assumptions, builds self-acceptance and self-esteem, fosters healthy relationships, improves decision making, and has the potential to save lives. For these reasons and more, we are proud to offer Our Whole Lives (OWL), a comprehensive, lifespan sexuality education curricula for use in both secular settings and faith communities.

Our Whole Lives helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their relationships, sexual health and behavior. OWL at First Unitarian 2022-2023

This year we will be offering K-1, 4-6, and 7-9 OWL on Wednesday Evenings, 6:30-8pm.  We will have childcare available during the time, and during the fall semester we will be running a program for parents and caregivers during the same timeslot: “Parents and Caregivers as Sexuality Educators.”  Descriptions of all of these classes follow.

Because of COVID and the lockdowns, your child likely missed a level of OWL they should have had.  This year, we are being flexible with the ages.  This year, for the 7-9 OWL, anyone older than 7th grade who needs OWL can register.  And for K-1 OWL, 2nd graders will be welcomed in.  If your child needs OWL but doesn’t fit into one of these categories, reach out to Tim at tatkins@1uc.org
