The First Unitarian Church Memorial Garden

Established in 1987, it holds cremated ashes and provides a place for congregants to honor and memorialize the lives and memories of their loved ones.

Members who have honored their family and friends in this way find our Memorial Garden to be an ongoing source of comfort and connection.

Accessible Location: Honoring the deceased on church grounds has been a popular religious practice for centuries. Our Memorial Garden consists of two plots located on each side of the entrance to the church from the Allen Courtyard. The plot on the west side features 3 beautiful slabs of granite with bronze plaques to identify the deceased. The east side is reserved for future use.

An Affordable Option: There is a one-time fee of $275, (BUT the price will rise to $300 on July 1) which included the interment of ashes. Due to space constraints, only a portion of a person’s cremains may be interred in the Garden.

Application: Congregants may apply for the interment of ashes in advance of their own death or after the death of a relative or friend. Pre-payment is encouraged. Such payments are non-refundable, but the internment charge for someone paying in advance will be fixed.

Contact: The First Unitarian Church Memorial Garden is operated and maintained by the Memorial Garden Committee. For questions and more information, please contact Barbara Gallivan at bgallivan@cox.net.
