Sunday Program:

Pre K – 1st Grade:Rainbow Connection” –

Although preschool children are too young to memorize the full language of each of our UU values, we can begin to acquaint them with the ideas behind the values, and the values themselves. We can focus on the values that all parents wish to instill in their children, such as respect, trustworthiness, fairness, caring, responsibility and good citizenship – values that also make us good Unitarian Universalists.  The Rainbow Connection uses popular story books (not included with curriculum) for preschoolers to discuss those values inherent in Unitarian Universalism. At the preschool age, children begin to understand the concepts of justice and fairness and begin to learn about what is “right” and “wrong”, or “good” and “bad”. Story books are chosen to help illustrate these values.

2nd – 5th Grade:Building Blocks” – The sessions in this curriculum introduce the Article II values (pluralism, interdependence, generosity, equity, justice, transformation, and love, plus kindness) through storybooks, discussion, and play activities. Each session includes an opening circle with an opening question and centering exercise, a story with discussion prompts, and a choice of play activities that carry out the theme of the day (including at least one simple LEGO build).
